There is something called “MT” in Korea, which stands for “membership training.”
An MT refers to a group trip that students in the same department take together.
Students who are in some kind of club might also go on an MT.
The purpose of these trips is to create a stronger bond among the students.
MTs are normally overnight trips taken to a nearby location.
Students would rent out a cabin for accommodations.
They all chip in some money and each brings something to eat for the trip.
Once they arrive at their destination, they first cook and have dinner together.
Then, they engage in various group games or sing in front of the campfire.
A lot of drinking takes place at MTs and many students end up getting quite drunk.
In fact, many Korean students’ best memories from their university life are from MTs.
